Belle McDougall pastels, art talk & workshop

We have a new show up at the White Meeting House, “Pastels Around Town” by Waterbury resident Belle McDougall.  These colorful landscapes will brighten your day, for sure.

Belle is also offering two neat opportunities on Sunday, February 12.  At noon, she will offer a talk about her work and process.  Art talks are a fun, free way to find out more about the thinking that goes into the art works we enjoy, to find out more about technique or process, and to just get inspired!  The talk is free and light refreshments will be served.
Then, from 1 to 3 PM (also on the 12th), Belle will offer a workshop on pastels.  This would be great for beginners, as well as for folks who haven’t used their pastels in a while and are looking for a way to re-enter.  The workshop is free.  If you have materials, bring those; if not, Belle can provide materials for you to use that day for a donation of $5.  Please email the artist directly at btmcdougall@gmail.com to sign up for the workshop.
McDougall’s show is open from January 15th through March 5th.  Admission is free.  The building is generally open Tuesday through Friday from 8:30A to 4:30P, and later on Wednesdays. (Still, it’s always a good idea to call 244-6606 and confirm it is open if you’re making a special trip!)  If you have additional questions, email Torrey at torreycsmith@yahoo.com.

We are excited to announce that Michelle Turbide will be showing her work at the White Meeting House in November.  A Grand Isle artist as well as a practicing psychotherapist, Michelle creates colorful, narrative images that explore personal transformation and lived experiences using acrylic and mixed media.
In addition to sharing her paintings, Michelle will offer us two other treats:

  1. an art talk on Sunday, November 13 at noon — open to the public; and
  2. a two-hour workshop on art journaling, also on Sunday the 13th, from 1 to 3PM.  The class will be $30 and include all materials; ages high school and older, and any skill or experience levels are welcome.  To sign up, register here.

Michelle’s work will be on display from November 4th through December 1.  Admission is free.  The building is generally open Tues through Friday from 8:30A to 4:30P, and later on Wednesdays. (Still, it’s always a good idea to call 244-6606 and confirm we’re open if you’re making a special trip!)

Poppies in May

dancewithmeAfter organizing shows at the White Meeting House for the last couple years, I have finally put together this exhibit of my own work.  Called “Poppies: the Joy of Painting in a Series,” it is a collection of over 20 recent paintings that were all developed around the image of a poppy.
It will be a bright, colorful show — hopefully a great way to welcome Spring.
There will be two special events I hope you can attend:

  • Reception & artist talk on Friday May 20th from 6 to 8 PM.  There will be light refreshments and good company!
  • A brief meditation during our regular worship service on Sunday May 22nd at 10 AM.

New show with art by Jeanne Thurston

thurstonpic
We just put up a great show, “Color in Motion,” by Wolcott artist Jeanne Thurston.  Her colorful, 3-dimensional paintings change as the viewer’s position changes.  They are really dynamic and unusual, but also totally accessible and fun.
We will have an open house to meet Jeanne on Sunday, April 3 from noon – 2PM.  All are welcome to attend!  The show will be up through the end of April.
