Last Friday, we received devastating news from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration: All CWS programs funded by the bureau are suspended immediately. These orders have plunged us into a new, challenging chapter in our history. Their impact is immediate and widespread on many fronts. Even as we continue our work and walk alongside the people who participate in our programs across the globe, my heart breaks for everyone whose safety, identity, home, family or future are at risk. This is a heartbreaking setback for CWS and the vulnerable families who are counting on us. These programs have provided food and other critical services to vulnerable refugees in Egypt and Indonesia. They have also been vital in providing refugees with the support they need to build new lives and thrive in the U.S.—help them find jobs, use public transportation, enroll their children in school, learn English and other necessities. Without government funding, these critical services are at risk. With a mandate to immediately halt this government funded work, your donations are the only way we can continue. We cannot let refugees be left vulnerable, homeless or hungry. We are working urgently to navigate this unprecedented challenge, but the need is immediate. Your support today will bridge the gap and make sure refugees have the chance to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity. Please give generously, and share in our commitment to making sure no one is left behind. Sincerely, |
