Church School News

Did you know that the CE program is still on track to put our learning from last fall about Moses and the Exodus to good use. Later this spring we will meet with our friend Barbara Paulson and put together an epic puppet show, which will be performed in June.
To help keep us focussed on the story, we are going to spend Sunday cooking latkes! I’ll bring the fixings, and we’ll cook during our time together. Please let me know if your child is allergic to flour, potato, eggs or onions!
I hope you’re enjoying the roller coaster weather — stay well, and we’ll see you Sunday!
Best,
Tom

2018 Annual Meeting and Report

Our annual meeting is called for January 28, 2018 in the sanctuary following worship.  We will consider the items on the warning which can be viewed here along with the rest of the annual report.
Please also consider staying after the meeting for a potluck lunch in the dining room.  If you bring a hot dish to pass, the ovens in the kitchen will be on warm when you arrive.  If you can’t bring anything, fear not, there will be plenty of loaves and fishes, er, food.

Silent Auction

A committee has been formed to organize a new fundraiser (at least new for this century!).  The basic idea is that everyone has a gift or a skill to share.  We’ll auction these off over two weekend, using pen and paper.  The items which receive the most interest (or which we think will receive the most interest) will be auctioned off at a live event. The committee consists of Jill and Jeff Loewer (who have experience in participating in a highly successful silent auction for Star Island) and June Hibbs who has experience organizing these kinds of activities.  It promises to be an event!
We are tentatively planning on the auction taking place starting the weekend of May 13 and ending the following Sunday.
How can you help? Well, at this point, start being creative as you think about what you might offer.  Do you have something that could be shared for a period of time, like a mountain cabin? Perhaps you like to bake and could offer a cookie of the month club for a year?  Do you create things about which others have said, “I’d like one of those!”?  Perhaps offering to rake leaves in the fall is your thing.  The sky, as you can see, is the limit.

Annual Reports Due Mid Month

This year’s annual meeting will be held on Sunday, January 31, following worship. (If you plan to attend, and we hope you do!, please stay in the worship zoom session. If you can’t attend worship and are able to attend the meeting, use the worship link.)

In the meantime, preparations are underway!  If you are a committee or board member, here’s a friendly reminder: reports are due in Peter’s inbox by January 19.  Please send all reports electronically.  We will, eventually, print the report for the records and anyone else who wants one. For the meeting on the 31st, however, it will be accessible here. Some reports are already online and available to read.

Thank you!
