Befitting a year unlike any our histories, our annual meeting will also be without precedent. But we’ve all become fairly accomplished with Zoom, so we don’t anticipate any problems.
Our annual meeting is on Sunday, January 31. We’ll meet for worship with the usual zoom link. I aim to give the benediction at 10:40 so that our meeting can start at 10:45. If you plan to stay for the meeting please do not log out. We’ll take a quick break and call the meeting to order at 10:45.
As usual, don’t forget to mute yourself. Conversely, if you are speaking, don’t forget to unmute yourself. If you would like to make a point or ask a question during any of the discussions about the motions before us, you may “raise your hand” which you can do by clicking on the reactions button at the bottom of your screen, or you can send a note through the chat system which will be open.
Carla Lawrence, our moderator, will run the meeting and I will keep my eye on chat for her. If you have any questions beforehand, you may email them to me or to Carla and we will make sure to read the question and get it answered during the meeting.
We will attempt to “vote” on the various proposals using what Robert’s Rules calls ‘general consent.’ Carla, the moderator will say, “If there is no objection, the motion will be adopted.” Here there will be a long pause to allow for someone to object. If there is no objection, she will continue, “since there is no objection, the motion is adopted.”
Please note that we will have Zoom’s polling feature enabled. In the event there is an objection because it seems a vote would be prudent, we will run the poll. The only hitch here is that you only get one vote per machine, ie., if there are two people on one zoom window, you only get one vote.
