In celebration of World Communion Sunday, we will be worshiping once again for a Mad River Valley Combined worship. This year, we will meet in Waterbury. Our choirs will combine to sing an anthem and we will share communion together as an affirmation of our commitment to this gospel that calls us to be peacemakers to the world, “so far as we are able,” (Rom. 12), and to become one. (John 17). Worship will be at 10 am.
As visible witnesses to the community, we will be walking to raise money for Church World Service — one of the largest, ecumenical emergency response organizations in the world, committed not only to restoring communities to wholeness after disaster but to walking with them in that process so that the end result is something that fits the community and the culture. The motto of the CROP Walk is “We walk because they walk.” And by walking together so much more is accomplished.
Between the worship service and the walk, our three communities will gather for a potluck meal in our dining room. Nothing terribly fancy — just some good food for the walk and some good catching up with our neighbors.
