New Art Show!

On Wednesday morning (10/5), a group of friends who call themselves Photographers Workroom, gathered to begin the process of lovingly hanging the fruits of their imaginations upon the walls of our sanctuary. Whenever two or three artists gather to hang a new show, I always sense a good creative vibe, like they are wrapping a gift for a loved one which has been specially made for the beloved.

From the information panel at the back of the sanctuary: “The Photographers Workroom is a community of artists who are committed to using their cameras as a means of personal creative expression. By lettting go of the need to craft the perfectly balanced image, we focus on the joy and process of creation through story-telling and portfolio development. With time and experimentation, we’ve expanded our practices beyond traditional photography into digital, sculptural and encaustic art.”

The show is, of course, open to the public, and will be on display until the end of November.

The show is primarily photography, but one monarch rules the sanctuary!

Ode to the Monarchs by Peggy Smith

When the sound of butterfly wings cannot be heard.
When the fiery orange upon the purple flowers is not seen.
When the silent sound of a butterfly resting on your shoulder is gone,
What then?
I am the butterfly spirit who stands amongst you reaching out.
My soft wings brush your dreams.
Listen, the monarchs are asking you
to awake.
Are you there?
